General Mills and ‘The Biggest Loser’ seek to combat hunger, obesity

When someone across the table sternly reminds you that some people in the world are going hungry, it’s usually a hint to finish eating everything on your plate.

But here’s an incentive to think about leaving that last bite. General Mills and NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” are partnering with Feeding America on a program called the Pound For Pound Challenge. For every pound dieters pledge to lose this year, the organizations will deliver one pound of groceries to a local food bank.

The contest will be featured on “The Biggest Loser” beginning Tuesday night and be integrated into the show for the entire season.
