Wells Fargo completes acquisition of Wachovia Corp.

Wells Fargo announced Thursday that it’s completed its acquisition of Wachovia Corp., forming one of the nation’s largest banks with 11,000 locations in 39 states.

Pat Callahan, the Wells Fargo V-P in charge of the transition, said in the statement that for now Wells Fargo and Wachovia customers should continue using the same bank accounts, credit cards and ATM cards as they do today.

“So we’re going to take our time and do this right,” Callahan said. “We’re committed to keeping customers informed of all significant changes before they happen.”
