3M forms unit to supply renewable energy industry

As Congress considers an economic stimulus that could include billions for renewable energy and efficiency projects, 3M announced today that it’s officially formed its new Renewable Energy Division

As Congress considers an economic stimulus that could include billions for renewable energy and efficiency projects, 3M announced today that it’s officially formed its new Renewable Energy Division.

3M already sells a variety of products to the renewable energy industry: a protective tape, for example, that seals the leading edge of wind turbine blades. The new business unit will pull together that and other products such as energy-conserving window films.

“3M’s new operation will serve the renewable energy market globally and bring the best products and technologies from a single source to customers worldwide,” said Michael Roman, a 3M executive who has been named to lead the new division.

The division falls under the company’s Industrial and Transportation Business and will focus on energy generation and energy management.
