Allegiant Air — which flies travelers to Las Vegas from Rochester and Duluth — is soaring financially these days, says Jeff Kiger in the Rochester Post Bulletin.
But even though the Vegas-based airline recently opened a hub in Las Angeles, it has no plans to start connecting the two Minnesota cities to LAX.
Allegiant focuses on leisure travel and offers accompanying hotel packages. So far it’s working, even during the recent stormy economic times. Allegiant reported profits in each quarter of 2008 and was listed as one of the best-performing stocks of the year.
During 2008, 27,854 passengers flew Allegiant out of Rochester to Las Vegas.
