North Shore manufacturing firm announces layoffs

More tough news on the labor front: Stanley LaBounty Manufacturing, which makes hydraulic equipment in Two Harbors, has laid off 36 people — nearly 25 percent of its workforce.

Workers still on the job will work reduced hours, reports the Duluth News Tribune.

It’s the largest manufacturing firm in Two Harbors, opened in 1973 by Roy LaBounty, who designed and built a grapple that could move heavy materials and tear structures apart. Stanley bought the business in 1992.
