UnitedHealth Group has expanded its health care provider network to the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Minnetonka-based HMO said in a press release that it has almost 3,000 health plan customers who reside on the islands. Until now they did not have in-network health care options.

The company has signed agreements with V.I. Equicare, the largest physician group in the Virgin Islands, and the Schneider Regional Medical Center, which operates three facilities.
