Cub Foods to host hot-dog-eating contest qualifier

The road to the Super Bowl of competitive eating goes through Plymouth this year.

Cub Foods announced today that it will host a Midwest qualifying event on Saturday for the 2009 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest.

The 13 contestants will include three Cub customers, alongside 10 of “some of the nation’s best competitive eaters.” Whoever can cram the most hot dogs down in 10 minutes will advance to the Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Contest in Coney Island, N.Y.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cub Foods at 4445 Nathan Lane in Plymouth.
