Carlson Companies is trying something new to get the word out about its new “Friday is Freeday” promotion at Radisson Hotels.
The hotel chain hired a team of professional actors, writers and directors to make a seven-and-a-half-minute “short film” about a young boy who realizes his dream of becoming a super hero. His superpower: promoting Radisson’s free Friday night stay promotion.
The web video has a glossy, Hollywood-style production to it, and it’ll be followed up with lower-fi videos documenting Fantastic Freddy’s “real-world interactions with unsuspecting beneficiaries.” (Like Borat?)
My guess is viewer response to the film/informercial will range from “Aw, cute” to “Gag me with that complimentary toothbrush, please.” (As a twentysomething non-parent, I’m clearly not the target demographic.)
