Model sues Medtronic for using image in prostate ad

Medtronic announced that it’s appointed a new general counsel, Cameron Findlay. Pretty sure he’ll have something to keep busy with from the day he starts on Aug. 24.

The latest lawsuit reported against Medtronic is a strange one. A model is suing the medical-device maker for defamation for using his image in an advertisement for a prostate device, the Star Tribune reports. The caption: “Now I can go like I am 19 again!”

The model, Ubaldo Dominguez Ramos, 58, signed a release at a modeling agency photo shoot in 1998 authorizing the use of his image. In the lawsuit, however, Ramos claims the photo in the ad was taken in 2001 at a shoot at which he never signed a release.

Medtronic told the newspaper that it obtains permission whenever it uses a photo in product materials and has no futher comment on the lawsuit.
