UnitedHealth CEO Stephen Hemsley should be smiling, says BusinessWeek.
Last week, the Star Tribune reported on the company’s efforts to convince Congress that insurers can be a part of the solution, not the problem, when it comes to health reform.
In this week’s cover story, BusinessWeek calls it:
“The carriers have succeeded in redefining the terms of the reform debate to such a degree that no matter what specifics emerge in the voluminous bill Congress may send to President Obama this fall, the insurance industry will emerge more profitable.”
UnitedHealth has focused on shaping the views of moderate and fiscally conservative Democrats, the magazine reports. The strategy appears to be paying off and is a key reason “Why Insurers Are Winning.”
