Analyst: U.S. Bank has ‘bold’ plan for growth

Would you like a line of credit with that?

U.S. Bancorp‘s strategy of cross-selling products to existing customers has at least one analyst optimistic about the bank’s future. reports that Rochdale Research analyst Richard Bove has upped his U.S. Bank stock rating to “buy.” The bank’s mission to be a “powerhouse in regional banking” is “bold” and “appears to be well-thought out,” according to the analyst’s note.

An asterisk on that enthusiasm: U.S. Bank’s core is in the Midwest, where markets aren’t particularly strong, the analyst noted, and like other banks it can expect more bad loans in the months and years ahead.
