Nonprofit WomenVenture opens Minneapolis office

WomenVenture, a St. Paul nonprofit that provides “tools and support to help you start and grow your business, find a new job, or develop a new career path,” has opened a new office in North Minneapolis.

The new office at 1030 W. Broadway, in the U.S. Bank building, opened last week and is headed by Maliha Husain, a five-year veteran of WomenVenture who recently served as director of microenterprise development.

Says Twin Cities Business magazine:

The expansion was funded by the City of Minneapolis Great Streets program and the U.S. Bancorp Foundation. The U.S. Bancorp Foundation and U.S. Bank contributed office space and furnishings and provided a $100,000 grant to help fund programs at the new location.

The new location will hold classes similar to those offered at the St. Paul location, such as career planning, business development and financial literacy.

The organization says it has served more the 90,000 men and women since its founding in 1978.
