Twins deal makes Toro official turf-equipment provider for Target Field

The people who complained about Target Field’s turf being shipped in from out of state should be happier with the team’s latest announcement.

Bloomington-based Toro Co. has been named the exclusive provider of turf maintenance equipment and sprinkler systems for Target Field.

“With strong roots in Minnesota, we’re excited to further our relationship with the Twins as they usher in a new era of baseball in this great state,” Toro CEO Mike Hoffman said in the press release.

The deal, which covers the 2010-2012 seasons, will include the use of Toro brand mowers, aerators and infield groomers, debris blowers and line painters.

Good news. Hopefully this will appease the TurfGate folks as I’m pretty sure this deal with Toro is worth more than $112,000.
