Wells Fargo’s envelope-free ATMs are one of the reasons InformationWeek has ranked the bank No. 4 on its 2009 list of the Most Innovative Business Technology Organizations.
An article describes how it took the bank several years to develop the envelope-free machines. The project was even shelved for a few years after early versions failed and jammed too often.
The tech journal also cites another ATM feature that displays customers’ three most-common transactions as shortcut buttons on the screen. Wells Fargo CIO Avid Modjtabai says such innovation is necessary to meet customer expectations.
