Best Buy ‘aggressively’ exploring transportation ideas

The latest issue of Fast Company magazine features Best Buy in a section about companies venturing into new markets.

Best Buy started selling Brammo electric motorcycles at West Coast stores this summer, and the company plans to roll them out nationally by the end of the year.

If the idea of buying a motorcycle at Best Buy sounds strange, Rick Rommel, senior VP of emerging business, points out that there was a time when “Best Buy didn’t sell cell phones or even computers.”

And it sounds like Best Buy is just pulling out of the driveway when it comes to vehicles. Says Rommel: “We’re aggressively experimenting with a broad array of personal-transportation ideas.”
