Best Buy is dreaming of a viral Christmas.
The New York Times’ Bits Blog reports the retailer is ramping up its social media push in advance of the holiday season.
Best Buy plans TO roll out seven Christmas-themed Twelpforce commercials featuring its Twitter-based support service.
The company is also producing 25 videos of Christmas songs with reworked lyrics about tech gift ideas. It hopes the videos and their shortened URLs will go viral via Facebook and Twitter.
And “one of the creepier technologies” the retailer is trying out: web-browser cookies that will let kids and spouses drop hints to about what gifts they want via customized advertisements.
