Wells Fargo to cut greenhouse emissions 20 percent

Wells Fargo says it’s set a goal of reducing its “U.S.-based” greenhouse gas emissions 20 percent below 2008 levels by 2018.

The company says 16 of the first Wachovia banking stores that have been converted to Wells Fargo locations are registered as LEED renovations.

Meanwhile, solar photovoltaic systems are being installed on 10 branch locations in Denver that it estimates will generate about 300,000 kilowatts per year.

Other initiatives include using envelope-free ATMs, buying energy-efficient office equipment and reducing business travel by greater use of video conferencing.
