3M profits grow to record $935M in 4Q: 3M Co.’s fourth-quarter earnings grew to a record $935 million as the Maplewood-based manufacturer enjoyed a year-end sales boost across all its business segments and geographic regions. 3M profits were up 38.4 percent, compared with the $536 million it earned in the same period last year. Its earnings per share were $1.30, up 69 percent from 77 cents a year ago. The Maplewood-based manufacturer said sales increased 11.1 percent to $6.1 billion, from $5.5 billion in the fourth quarter of 2008. Read full story

Polaris profit jumps 21 percent in Q4: Polaris Industries reported record earnings for fourth quarter 2009. Medina-based Polaris reported net income of $1.31 per diluted share for the fourth quarter, an 18 percent increase from $1.11 per diluted share for the prior year period. Net income of $43.9 million was reported for the quarter, a 21 percent increase from the same period in 2008 of $36.2 million. Read full story

Fair Isaac profit rises in Q1: Fair Isaac Corp. reported Wednesday that its profit rose in the first quarter of 2010, even as revenue across its business units slid compared to the year-ago period. The Minneapolis-based analytics and scoring firm, best known for its FICO score, reported first-quarter earnings of $17.7 million, or 37 cents per share, up from $12.1 million, or 25 cents per share, during the same period last year.
