Target’s sales increase in May: Target Corp.’s same-store sales climbed 1.3 percent in May, falling short of the company’s expectations. Meanwhile, net retail sales for the four weeks ended May 29 came in at $4.62 billion, up 3.7 percent from $4.46 billion in the comparable period last year. Alliant Techsystems cancels $175 million expansion in Mississippi: Alliant Techsystems has canceled a planned $175 million expansion of its facility in Iuka, Miss., a project that was expected to create nearly 800 jobs for the area. Eden Prairie-based ATK cited the downturn in the economy and its need to consolidate the engineering, development and production of its Airbus program. The Iuka plant was going to build fiber composite parts for the skeletons of airplanes. Read full story

Delta’s on-time performance improves: Delta Air Lines and the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport both reported improved on-time performance in April, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Delta was on time 84.4 percent, ranking 13th among the top 18 carriers. That compares with an on-time performance of 76.5 percent in April 2009, which ranked 12th. The industry average on-time performance for April was 85.3 percent. Read full story

WCCO-TV names new station GM: WCCO-TV today named veteran television executive Brien Kennedy as its vice president and general manager, according to the station’s website. Kennedy spent the past three years as executive vice president of Freedom Broadcasting and general manager of the company’s largest affiliate, WPEC-TV in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was responsible for driving revenue growth strategies for Freedom’s portfolio of eight stations. Read full story
