Mayo leads Minnesota hospitals in U.S. News rankings, Becker Furniture to open new Burnsville store, and sparkling cider production returns to Minnesota.

Mayo leads Minnesota hospitals in U.S. News rankings: The Mayo Clinic in Rochester was the only Minnesota health provider to make it onto the 14-hospital “honor roll” in U.S. News & World Report’s 2010-11 Best Hospitals rankings. Mayo was No. 1 in quality of care in three of the 16 specialties the magazine ranked, including diabetes and endrocrinology, gastroenterology and kidney disorders. Mayo was in the top 10 in 15 of the 16 rankings. It came in 11th for ophthalmology. U.S. News & World Report collected data from 4,852 facilities and scored them for quality of care in each specialty. Read full story

Becker Furniture to open new Burnsville store: Becker Furniture World plans to open a “satellite store” at the Burnsville Crossing shopping center in early October. The new store will replace the Becker Furniture Liquidation Superstore the company opened at nearby Burnsville Center last year. That store will close on Aug. 29; a liquidation sale began earlier this week. Read full story

Sparkling cider production returns to Minnesota: Sparkling non-alcoholic cider maker Kristian Regale Inc. has moved production of its 11.1-ounce, single-serving cider products back to Minnesota. After being produced exclusively in Spain, the single-serving bottles now are being produced at Cold Spring Brewing in Cold Spring. The first U.S.-made bottles began shipping last month.
