Campbell Mithun, MRM Worldwide merge: Minneapolis advertising agency Campbell Mithun announced today it will merge with the local office of MRM Worldwide, a leading digital agency. Both agencies are owned by New York-based global media firm The Interpublic Group of Cos. Inc., and they both have office space in the Campbell Mithun Tower in downtown Minneapolis. The combined company will retain the Campbell Mithun name, as well as the company’s Compass Point Media unit. Read full story

Land O’Lakes sales up in Q2: Land O’Lakes’ sales improved slightly in the second quarter of 2010, although the company’s earnings fell because of unrealized hedging impacts. The Arden Hills-based food and agricultural cooperative had sales of $2.96 billion in the second quarter, up from $2.81 billion in the same period last year. The company reported strong performance in key branded product lines, particularly “innovative new products that appeal to consumers and business customers.” Read full story

Capella disputes report of low loan-repayment rate: Capella Education Co., a for-profit online university based in Minneapolis, questioned a recent government report about low loan-repayment rates among its former students, saying the data are inconsistent with its own internal analysis. The report said only 40 percent of the school’s former students are repaying loans, falling short of the U.S. Department of Education’s minimum target of 45 percent, proposed under a new “gainful employment” rule intended to increase oversight of the for-profit education industry. Best Buy bringing shopkick’s mobile rewards to Minnesota: Best Buy said today that it plans to bring shopkick Inc.’s mobile application rewards system to 257 domestic stores by Oct. 1, including 23 Minnesota locations. Best Buy, which first announced its partnership with Palo Alto, Calif.-based shopkick earlier this month, said the system will be functional in 187 stores in several big cities by Tuesday. It will expand to an additional 70 stores in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Dallas and Miami markets by Oct. 1. Best Buy customers will be able to download the free shopkick mobile application for their smart phones. Read full story
