Mosaic completes $1B sale of stake in Brazilian business: The Mosaic Co. announced Wednesday it has completed its previously announced sale of its investment in Vale Fertilizantes S.A., Fosfertil, to a subsidiary of Vale S.A., for about $1 billion. Plymouth-based Mosaic said the deal will have no impact on its other fertilizer blending and distribution business in Brazil. Read full story

Carlson Hotels names Thorsten Kirschke COO: Carlson Cos. Inc. has named Thorsten Kirschke chief operating officer for Carlson Hotels. The Minnetonka-based hospitality giant said Wednesday that Kirschke, formerly executive vice president and chief operating officer for Carlson Hotel’s American division, will be president of that group. Pebblebrook buys Grand Hotel Minneapolis for $33 million: PebblebrookTrust has acquired The Grand Hotel Minneapolis for $33 million. Pebblebrook, a Bethesda, Md.-based real estate investment trust, was first identified as the likely buyer for the historic 140-room downtown Minneapolis hotel in June. At the time, it disclosed a deal worth $36 million for the property, but the price tag declined after Pebblebrook said in an August regulatory filing that it might scrap its purchase.
