Florida company makes bid for Digital Angel: A Florida company has offered to acquire Digital Angel Corp. for nearly $17 million. PositiveID Corp., a Delray Beach, Fla.-based company that develops diagnostic devices and identification technologies for the health care and information-management industries — is offering 60 cents per outstanding share of Digital Angel stock, a 60 percent premium on the average closing price for the 20 trading days ending Tuesday. Based on that price, PositiveID would exchange 0.67 shares of its common stock for each outstanding share of Digital Angel stock. South St. Paul-based Digital Angel said today that its board will review the terms of the “unsolicited, non-binding proposal” at its next regularly scheduled meeting. Read full story

Comcast rebrands services as Xfinity: Comcast Corp is rebranding its Twin Cities cable, Internet and phone services as Xfinity, according to the PioneerPress. Philadelphia-based Comcast has been rolling out its new Xfinity new brand name since last year, garnering mixed reviews of the switch along the way. Some critics have charged that the name change is an attempt to shed any history of customer complaints that Comcast might have had. Read full story
