MoneyGram is moving its HQ to Dallas: MoneyGram International is transferring its global headquarters to Dallas from St. Louis Park. The plans to have about 75 employees in place in Dallas by March 2011 and 150 by 2012. Today the company has about 800 jobs in the Twin Cities, including 470 at the MoneyGram Tower in St. Louis Park and 330 at an operations center in Brooklyn Park. Read full story

NTSB investigating near-collision over Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport: Federal authorities are investigating a near midair collision near Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport earlier this month. The National Transportation Safety Board said today that a commercial jetliner flying 90 passengers and a small cargo plane came within 50 to 100 feet of each other in dense clouds just after takeoff. There were no injuries or damage, and the NTSB and Federal Aviation Administration investigation is ongoing. Read full story

Alliant wins $50 million ammo contract: Alliant Techsystems has won a military ammunition contract worth more than $50 million, the company said today. Eden Prairie-based Alliant said the order is the second under a contract signed in September 2008 that could exceed $170 million by 2013. Read full story

    I shudder to think what would have happened if Moneygram’s new CEO were from Pyongyang or Khartoum.
