Minnesota topped nation in new construction jobs in September: The 3,100 construction jobs Minnesota added in September were the most by any state, but it still has fewer construction jobs than it had a year ago. Minnesota had 91,100 construction jobs in September, up 3.8 percent from 84,400 in August, according to a report today by the Associated General Contractors of America. Only Hawaii reported stronger month-over-month growth, up 4.9 percent to 29,600. But despite the month’s gain, Minnesota still ended the month with 6,000 fewer construction jobs than it had a year earlier. Read full story

Apartment vacancies, rates decline in Q3: Apartment vacancy rates in the Twin Cities reached a two-year low of 4.2 percent in the third quarter of 2010, although average rents also slipped slightly, according to a report from GVA Marquette Advisors. Since peaking at 7.3 percent at the end of 2009, vacancy rates now have declined in three straight quarters. Minneapolis rates dipped to 3 percent, while St. Paul declined to 4.2 percent. Average apartment rents in the Twin Cities were $905 in the third quarter. Read full story

Former WCCO-TV GM joins Clear Channel Outdoor:
Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings Inc. today named Susan Adams Loyd, the general manager at WCCO-TV, as branch president for its Minneapolis-St. Paul division. Loyd will be responsible for Clear Channel Outdoor’s inventory in the Twin Cities market. She starts her new job Nov. 9. Loyd spent four years as WCCO-TV’s vice president and general manager prior to leaving the station in June to join her father’s publishing company, Edina-based Beaver’s Pond Press. Read full story
