SBA lending to MN companies rises in 2010: The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) guaranteed $513 million in loans to Minnesota businesses during the 2010 federal fiscal year, up about 14 percent from $451 million in 2009. The SBA’s Minnesota division ranked second among offices nationwide in number of loans approved for the year, according to a press release. The Minnesota office approved 2,352 loan guarantees in 2010, up from 2,134 in 2009. Read full story

TST Media snaps up Pond Hockey Tournament: Fast-growing tech firm TST Media this week bought Minnesota’s annual US Pond Hockey Championships from Fred Haberman and his public relations firm, Haberman Inc. M&A activity up in Minnesota: Mergers and acquisitions activity in Minnesota rose during the first three quarters of 2010 compared to the same period a year ago, according to a report released today. There were 140 deals recorded during the period, up from 108 in first three quarters of 2009. M&A activity is still down compared to 2008 levels, however. During the first three quarters of 2008, there were 167 deals in Minnesota. Read full story
