MN Forward donations hurt Target, Best Buy scores in GLBT survey: After a controversial foray into political donations, Target Corp., 3M Co. and Best Buy saw their scores drop in an annual survey of corporate policies toward gay and lesbian employees. The survey is published by the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit group Human Rights Campaign, an advocacy group focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues. Target and Best Buy both received Corporate Equality Index ratings of 85, down from a perfect score of 100 last year. 3M also dropped from 100 to 85. Read full story

Thomson Reuters buys boutique billing manager Serengeti Law: Thomson Reuters Corp. said today that it has acquired Serengeti Law, a Bellevue, Wash.-based company that makes online billing tools for corporate legal departments. Terms of the acquisition weren’t disclosed. All 50 Serengeti employees will join Thomson Reuters and will remain based in the Seattle and Chicago metro areas. Thomson Reuters, which is based in New York but has a large operation in Eagan, has about 55,000 employees worldwide. Read full story

Macalester to begin $40 million renovation project: St. Paul-based Macalester College plans to move ahead on a $40 million renovation and expansion of its Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center. The school received approval from its board Monday to authorize construction of the facility. It plans to begin construction in January 2011 and complete construction in July 2012. Read full story
