Piedmont REIT completes $66M deal for Richfield complex: Piedmont Office Realty Trust has closed on its $65.6 million acquisition of Meridian Crossings in Richfield. Raymond Owens, Piedmont’s executive vice president for capital markets, said in a Monday statement that Meridian Crossings is located in one of the company’s strongest operational markets. Icahn ups Lawson investment to 10%: New York investor Carl Icahn has upped his investment in Lawson Software Inc. and now controls 10 percent of the company, according to a regulatory filing from Lawson Tuesday. Icahn is well known for pressuring a company’s management into making changes after acquiring a substantial amount of that company’s shares. Read full story

Medica rolls out health plan offerings: Medica on Tuesday unveiled a number of programs and products aimed at employers as they plan their 2011 benefit packages. New programs include a health assessment for employees, personalized scorecards for members to follow their health, and biometric screening to assess members’ risk for heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
