Eden Prairie wine distributor sold: World Class Wines, a high-end wine distributor in Eden Prairie, has been sold to a joint venture between J.J. Taylor and Southern Wine and Spirits of America. World Class Wines was founded in 1982 by its president, Marty Ullman. Wayne Chaplin, Southern’s president and chief operating officer, said that World Class Wines will be the initial step in building the joint venture’s fine wine business in the state. Read full story

Vertical Endeavors to open Minneapolis location: Vertical Endeavors rock-climbing event center in St. Paul plans to open a new site in a former ice house in Minneapolis next year. Vertical Endeavors has a deal to lease about 10,000 square feet in a soon-to-be renovated building at 26th and Nicollet Avenue. It plans to invest about $2 million to build a climbing room in the 65-foot-tall space. Read full story

Familiar Macy’s holiday display will include puppet show: For the third straight year, “A Day in the Life of an Elf” will be the theme of the Macy’s eighth-floor Santaland character display at its downtown Minneapolis store. Macy’s will add one feature this year — a puppet show called Moose Crossing. Macy’s describes the puppet show as “a trio of song-filled tales starring the voices of Julie Andrews, Mario Cantone, John Tartaglia and Walter Cronkite.” Read full story
