Mapping immigrant youth in rural Minnesota

We learned from the 2010 Census that Minnesota’s population became more diverse between 2000 and 2010. Immigrants settling in Minnesota are driving this new diversity, and as their children come of age and start their own families, Minnesota communities will likely become still more diverse.

Click on any county to see a brief demographic profile of the under 18 population there. You’ll also find something called the Diversity Index score for the entire population of each county. Counties on the map are shaded light to dark based on their Diversity Index score.
