If you’re interested in data visualization and Minnesota, check out this new contest from the State Demographer’s office and journalist Michael Olson. The first-ever Minnesota Data Opener is calling for creative and innovative projects that will help illuminate a complex issue in our state: education.
Using the data they provide [.xls], applicants are encouraged to submit an entry — chart, interactive, photo or video — that “helps Minnesotans understand a problem or challenge relating to educational attainment in our state.” The workbook contains educational data by age, race/ethnicity, gender, nativity and more — providing a wealth of themes to explore.
Sound fun? Entries are due by June 10. Learn more at www.mndataopener.com.
