As a part of Northern Spark 2014, MinnPost created Lacu, a visualization of 13,000 lakes in Minnesota. Below is a demo of the visualization. Check out Inside MinnPost for pictures and other details of the night.

Do note that this project will only run on modern web browsers and newer computers. It is meant for a fixed width of 1440px and requires a screen big enough for that. It requires loading of over 30MB of data and will take some time to load; please be patient. For demo purposes, it will start at a random point in the presentation.

Data for the piece came from the Minnesota DNR and PCA. The image below shows how the data is represented in the visualization.
