WASHINGTON — State Sen. Tarryl Clark hauled in a whopping $910,000 in the second quarter of this year, passing past the $2 million mark for the campaign so far.
“We’ve built an unprecedented grassroots campaign that now includes over 24,000 individual donors,” Campaign Manager Zach Rodvold said in an e-mail. “They know that Tarryl Clark will stand up for their interests, not the special interests, and they know what’s at stake in this election. That’s why they’ve helped us build a campaign that is positioned to win in November.”
The announcement follows a record-breaking first quarter for any Minnesota challenger, when she hauled in $505,000. The campaign pointed out that no House challenger in Minnesota history has ever reached the million dollar mark by this point in the campaign, yet they’re past two million.
Of course, Bachmann is no fundraising slouch herself, and is expected to top Clark’s fundraising numbers when hers are released.
Bachmann raised more than $800,000 in the first quarter,the second-best haul of any House incumbent nationwide.
If she doesn’t pass $1 million by a comfortable margin this quarter it will be a complete shock, considering she started the quarter off with a Sarah Palin fundraiser that brought in around a half-million dollars.

I wonder how many of those donors live in MN-6. Clark is likely benefitting from Rep Bachmann’s notoriety & collecting money from activists nationwide that want to see Bachmann unseated. But money will only go so far in delivering the votes for Clark on election day.
Of course, Brian, we know that Bachmann reaps a haul from her national Tea Party roots. In fact due to her right wing support from around the country she may never be beat. Now, with the Citizen’s United ruling changing the way corporations can contriubte to political campaigns, Bachmann receives another windfall as she pimps for BP. In fact, what Bachmann does in Congress has little impact on ordinary Minnesotans. She may be the biggest beneficiary of the new campaign law. Bachmann’s tireless defence of the interests and advantages of corporations nationwide while ignoring the real problems depressing the middle class has won her financial support from big business. As a result of Bachmann’s outragous statements concerning Obama, BP, misrepresentations of the new health insurance reform or simple lies about her record Tarryl Clark will generate much more in contributions than she would otherwise. Aren’t our election laws wonderful? Thanks to an activist Supreme Court corporations like BP can buy elections for their pimps in the US. Meanwhile, individuals outraged by Bachmann’s extremism will continue to donate to her opponents, whoever they may be.
