WASHINGTON — Former Sen. Norm Coleman, who has been working mostly behind the scenes promoting Republican candidates this fall, is stepping a bit more into the limelight with a new blog highlighting his ideas for fixing the economy.
The alliterative title: “Notes from Norm.”
Coleman, as CEO of the American Action Network (and its sister group, the American Action Fund), has been active in Senate races from Alaska to Washington to Wisconsin. In his first piece, published Wednesday, he advised all candidates to adhere to bedrock fiscal policies like support for a balanced budget amendment and making the Bush tax cuts permanent.
“To paraphrase the 1992 Clinton Campaign: ‘It’s about jobs, Stupid!'” Coleman wrote in his first entry. “And, for 15 million unemployed Americans – and millions more who are underemployed — they don’t want more taxes. They don’t want more spending. They don’t want bigger government. They want jobs.”
