WASHINGTON — Rep. Michele Bachmann raised $5.4 million from July to September — an amount so large it doesn’t just dwarf the haul any Minnesota campaign has had in a single quarter, it’s more than any House candidate here has ever raised for an entire cycle.

Two Bachmann campaign officials confirmed the totals today, though spokesman Sergio Gor said the campaign would release detailed numbers, including cash-on-hand totals, Wednesday. (See update below)

Bachmann’s 3rd quarter brings her campaign’s fundraising totals near to $10 million for the cycle. Her Democratic challenger, Tarryl Clark, has not yet released her 3rd quarter results, though spokeswoman Carrie Lucking said that would happen soon.

Reports are due to be filed to the Federal Elections Commission by the end of the week, so stay tuned…

Update (10/13): Gor e-mails to say the campaign had $3.4 million cash-on-hand at the end of September.

“I am so grateful to the more than 80,000 people who have contributed to my campaign this quarter,” Bachmann said in a statement that noted 100,000 contributions (some people gave more than once) were for $100 or less.  “Their support is truly overwhelming and I am blessed to have their support in my campaign to represent Minnesota.

Gor says the campaign will file a full report to the FEC on Friday.
