WASHINGTON — Michele Bachmann has now sewn up support from the entire Minnesota delegation in her bid for a leadership position in the House.
Erik Paulsen’s office confirmed his support this afternoon — “Erik plans on voting for his Minnesota colleague,” spokesman Mark Giga said.
Bachmann’s top ally in the House, Iowa Republican Steve King, became her first out-of-state backer late Thursday. Bachmann tweeted the news herself: “Humbled by Congressman @SteveKingIA ‘s support as I seek the House #GOP Conference Chairmanship!”
The other Republican running for the number four job in the House GOP leadership, Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling, continued to rack up endorsements as well. Tea Party favorite Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee has backed Hensarling, as has Budget Chairman-to-be Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. Hensarling had already been backed by others in the GOP leadership, including Minority Leader Eric Cantor and outgoing Conference Chairman Mike Pence.
