Buffalo Wild Wings aims to impact restaurant issues through new PAC

WASHINGTON — Buffalo Wild Wings has formed a political action committee, a move that elevates the fast-growing firm’s intention as more of a player on the Washington scene.

Officials with the Minneapolis-headquartered firm said there was no one, specific issue that led to the PAC’s launch, and that the PAC’s mission will be further defined as it begins to operate.

“We want to have a voice and to support the issues that help our business and our customers,” said Emily Decker of Buffalo Wild Wings, who is the PAC’s treasurer.

Buffalo Wild Wings, which is among the fastest-growing restaurant chains in America, joins many other major Minnesota firms with their own political action committees, including Best Buy, Cargill, General Mills, Land O’Lakes and Wells Fargo.

It’s serious business for sure, although the announcement wasn’t without a bit of levity. Mark Giga, formerly the communications director for Erik Paulsen (whose PAC is carries the name ICE PAC), jokingly tweeted that he’d rather skip the money and take in-kind contributions.

Buffalo Wild Wings, all business on this one, didn’t follow Paulsen’s punny cues. They’re going with BWWPAC instead.
