WASHINGTON — Everyone in Minnesota’s House delegation except Rep. Michele Bachmann voted Wednesday for a budget bill that will keep the government open through September.
The bill was the end result of budget negotiations borne out of the budget deal Congress passed in December. The deal will fund the government through the end of the fiscal year in September and undo some of the sequestration cuts that were set to kick in this year.
Bachmann opposed the initial deal in December because it doesn’t balance the budget. Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison opposed the December deal because of the overall funding levels within it, but in the end he decided to vote for today’s bill as a means for funding the government this year.
The final vote on Wednesday was 359-67; the Senate is expected to take up the bill before the end of the week.
