WASHINGTON — Jon Hamm is the latest Hollywood star Sen. Al Franken has enlisted to help raise campaign cash.

Hamm will be in Minneapolis later this month and Franken’s campaign is raffling off a chance for donors to meet both the senator and the “Mad Men” star.

In a note to supporters, Franken wrote:

The new season of “Mad Men” premieres in April, and it’s sure to be the talk of your office and/or household.

But you can prove your super-fan credentials by telling everyone about the time you won a trip to a really fun event in Minneapolis, where you got to meet the man who plays Don Draper and hound him with demands for spoilers on the upcoming season (note: please don’t do that).

Like you, Jon’s a proud progressive and a great supporter. Of course, he’s also a Golden-Globe-award-winning movie and TV star. But I’m confident you’ll get along great, especially when we’re all hanging out talking about how to move our country forward (and maybe a little about “Mad Men”).

Franken’s campaign previously raffled off a Los Angeles meeting with comedian Conan O’Brien last year and had planned a D.C. get-together with singer Paul Simon before the government shutdown (that event was canceled). Donors also had the chance to meet Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a liberal star if not a Hollywood one, last summer.

Hamm has backed Democratic causes and candidates in the past, as Politico notes, attending the Democratic National Convention in 2012 and asking voters to support Barack Obama.
