Franken highlights drug regulation law in second ad

WASHINGTON — Sen. Al Franken is up with his second ad buy of the 2014 cycle.

The new, minute-long ad features a Ham Lake woman sickened by a tainted vaccine in a 2012 meningitis outbreak that killed 64 people nationwide. Franken was part of a group of senators to introduce a bill beefing up drug manufacturer regulations in response.

The bill was wrapped into a larger package, which President Obama signed into law last year. (Republicans have needled Franken for highlighting a stalled bill in his first ad, which he released earlier this month.)

According to FCC filings, the ad buy is worth at least $140,000 over the Twin Cities’ four major networks. Franken’s campaign wouldn’t comment on the overall size of the buy.

Here’s a link to the ad.

    3rd ad?

I guess he’s saving his endorsement of Obamacare for his third ad.
