Congressional fundraising: Franken raises and spends a lot, Mills self-funds, Peterson posts a big quarter

Sen. Al Franken
Stewart Mills
Rep. Collin Peterson
Rep. Erik Paulsen
  • 1st District Republican Aaron Miller has given himself $120,000, though he’s paid down $80,000 of that. He’ll face off in a primary against Jim Hagedorn, who has lent $5,000 to his campaign;
  • 2nd District Democrat Mike Obermueller gave his campaign $32,500 in 2012, but his campaign account has bled into this cycle as he takes his second shot at Rep. John Kline;
  • Rhonda Sivarajah, challenging GOP-endorsed Tom Emmer in an August primary, has given her campaign $170,000;
  • And Joe Perske, the Democrat in the 6th District, has lent his campaign $4,000.

    Referring to the 7th and 8th Districts the article says “… we’re looking at a couple of spendy races up north this fall.”

    This is mostly true but remember that the 7th comes within about 45 miles of the Iowa border.
