Not since the late Paul Wellstone has Minnesota seen so energetic an Election Day pol as Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak. He was bouncing, joyfully, throughout the city on Tuesday.
At his midmorning University of Minnesota stop, he went door-knocking through two dorms.
“I love this day,” said Rybak. “I always have.”
The most touching moment, he said, came early Tuesday when he was on Broadway in north Minneapolis.
“There was a grandma, she was African-American, with her two small grandchildren,” the mayor said. “She had a big smile on her face and said she was taking her grandchildren to the polls so they could be a part of history. It was really moving.”
