The case for killing granny

The case for killing granny
By Eric Black

The cover story of the Sept. 21 edition of Newsweek (it’s been out for several days) is headlined “The Case for Killing Granny.”

Hyperbolic and intentionally provocative, of course, but I like it. The subhead: “Curbing excessive end-of-of-life care is good for America,” is a little more reasonable, although the word “excessive” also makes it a virtual tautology. (Curbing all “excessive” spending is good for America.)

But someone has to find a way to talk about this stuff without being accused of favoring “death panels.”
