An ad that’s airing now (I just saw it on “Jeopardy”) attacks Mark Dayton, Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Matt Entenza and Tom Horner for supporting the legalization of gay marriage.
An organization called the National Organization for Marriage takes responsibility. The ad says that in addition to favoring legalization, all four of those candidates are opposed to allowing Minnesotans to vote on the question.
As best I understand, those four candidates do favor what proponents call marriage equality and are pledged to sign a bill making it happen. Republican endorsee Tom Emmer opposes legalizing gay marriage. Emmer isn’t mentioned or depicted in the ad.
But the ad also says that the four candidates oppose allowing Minnesotans to vote on the question. I haven’t heard that one discussed.I did reach Tommer’s spokester on that last matter and he said that yes, Emmer would favor a ballot question on whether gay marriage should be legalized, although he pointed out that putting a proposed constitutional amendment onto the ballot does not require a gubernatorial action.
Meanwhile, here’s the ad:
