New Bachmann Ad

The Bachmann re-election campaign released a new TV ad today. Kinda generic, but as such it captures 90 percent of the message of the Repubs across the country. (And note, she does single out her vote against Bush’s “Wall Street Bailout” as one of her three braggable “no” votes.

Gee, Mickey knows ALL the standard Republican talking points! My question for her is this: Why would we want to return to the policies that necessitated the bailout of Wall Street and the government stimulus package in the first place (without which we would be in an even Greater Depression that the original).

Why would we want to turn back the clock to the very recent days when an unelected, unaccountable private bureaucrat held your life in their hands when it came to medical treatment decisions and doctors had to routinely call insurance companies to beg for coverage of necessary treatment (and those insurance company bureaucrats often received bonuses for turning down as much coverage as possible, no matter what the policy promised)?

Why would we want to follow the Republican plans for healthcare which would try to require that doctors, hospitals, clinics: the entire healthcare system just eat the cost of providing care for the uninsured (as if that wouldn’t reduce the income of every kind of doctor and eventually bankrupt the entire system?)?

Or perhaps their true intent is to have a top notch private system of healthcare for the rich and cast everyone who’s not fabulously wealthy into an unfunded system that can do little but provide aspirin to people dying of treatable and/or chronic diseases. That’s more likely to be the case. THEY’LL have THEIR private doctors and hospitals. The rest of us will just be left to “die quickly.”

Yup. I’m REALLY going to vote for THAT!

Mrs. Bachmann is an embarrassment to the state of Minnesota and its citizens. She’s reading a script written inside the Washington D.C. Beltway in a Republican campaign strategist’s office, and both she and the commercial shouldn’t be taken seriously by anyone who’s even minimally concerned about the society as a whole.

Step away from those right-wing blogs, folks, and look around you.
