We can’t know whether the five Supreme Court justices who gave us the “Citizens United” decision and the new “Citizens United” era, nor the extent to which they feel able to take likely consequences into effect when deciding the meaning of the first amendment as applied to campaign finance nor whether any of them might be troubled by the results.

But ABC reports that so far in South Carolina, where political advertising has crowded most other advetising off the air, SuperPACs combined have spent about twice as much as all of the candidates campaigns combined.
