Republicans agree to stop saying ‘scandal’ if Obama resigns (joke)

Just to be absolutely clear: This is a joke from consistently funny liberal satirist Andy Borowitz, who writes for the New Yorker.

It begins:

“Arguing that the American people are sick and tired of hearing the word ‘scandal,’ a growing chorus of Republican lawmakers said they would stop using the word “scandal” in every sentence if President Obama resigns from office immediately.

“’Mr. President, for the past week, the American people have heard nothing but scandal,’ said Rep. Darrell Issa (R-California). ‘Scandal, scandal, scandal, and more scandal.’ You have called for investigations to get to the bottom of these scandals,” he added. “But the American thing to do is to quit.”

The rest is here.

    It’s the “Grand Bargain!”

There are Republicans, no doubt, who would regard this satirical proposal as reasonable and sensible. Mr. Issa, no stranger to the lunatic right wing, might well be among them.

      The scandal is

that a large proportion of the American public accepts these jokes without question.
As long as they do, politicians will make them.

    Where were these clowns

During the first decade of this century? One long continuous scandal
