Liz Cheney drops out

Citing family health issues, Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has dropped her bid to unseat Wyoming U.S. Senator Mike Enzi.

She has not yet specified whose health issues motivated the decision. The campaign wasn’t going well anyway, but Enzi, a solid, low-profile conservative who is seeking a fourth term, is now assumed to be a shoo-in.

Here’s the Fox News coverage.

(When I first put this up, my mind slipped a cog and I said Mary Cheney had dropped out. It’s Mary’s sister Liz.)

    Pardon the snark

…but this does not strike me as a great loss to the nation, or even to the state of Wyoming. Ms. Cheney is of the “born on 3rd base and thinks she hit a triple” wing of the Republican Party, similar to former president Bush. Enzi is bad enough, thank you.
