A good line by former President Bush

George W. Bush is turning into a pretty good ex-president. At an appearance in Dallas yesterday with Jill Biden, he said:

“A lot of people ask me, do I miss much about being president? …  I miss Air Force One. In eight years, they never lost my baggage.”

    What disqualifies?

Bush has, since his term ended, often canceled trips abroad due to concerns about protest groups calling for host governments to arrest the former president for alleged torture. An ex-prez who is basically under house arrest — America being the house — is now “turning into a pretty good ex-president”? Let’s ask a couple hundred thousand dead Iraqis how good an ex-president he is. Sadly they’re unavailable for comment.

I think a much better line

would have been “for the future well being of the country, I will not seek reelection in 2004.”

    If that’s the

most profound thing that he’s ever said.
it’s good that he’s an ex president.
