Minnesota’s Retirement Savings Crisis

  • This event has passed.

Most Minnesotans aren’t saving enough for retirement, and our lack of preparation will hurt thousands of families and put our public services to the test. With 750,000 expected to reach retirement age in the next decade, MinnPost asks “How great is the challenge?” and “What can be done now to address a crisis decades in the making?”

This special event, presented by AARP Minnesota, will bring a handful of prominent academics, state policymakers, and business leaders together for a 90-minute discussion moderated by MinnPost Managing Editor Susan Albright.

Panelists include:

  • Emily Piper – Commissioner, Minnesota Dept. of Human Services
  • Teresa Rasmussen – President, Thrivent Financial
  • Doug Loon – President, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce
  • Angela Antonelli – Executive Director of the Center for Retirement Initiatives at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy

This event will be held in the 3M Auditorium of the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul (map) with the panel running from 8 – 9:30 a.m. Beverages and a light breakfast will be available before and after the discussion.  Visitor parking is available.

The event is free but advance registration is required.
